The Department of Justice (“DoJ”) is consulting from 6 June 2022 to 1 August 2022 on proposals to reappoint Lay Magistrates who were required to retire at the age of 70, following the increase in retirement age to 75 for members of the judiciary which was recently introduced by the Public Service Pensions and Judicial Offices Act 2022.
