Announcing the pay award, the Justice Minister, Naomi Long said: “I welcome the conclusion of the 2019/20 pay round for PSNI officers in the federated and superintending ranks.  The award is consistent with the recommendations of the independent Police Remuneration Review Body and recognises the work of police officers in Northern Ireland.”

The award applies a 2.5% increase to officers’ pay scales backdated to 1 September 2019 and aligns to the award to officers in England and Wales.

Naomi Long added: “Our police officers are committed to serving everyone in Northern Ireland and keeping people safe. It is a crucial role at the heart of our community and I would urge anyone who is considering joining the PSNI to visit www.join.psni.co.uk.”
