The bulletin presents data on first time entrants to the criminal justice system in Northern Ireland for the year 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.
In 2022/23, first time entrants to the justice system constituted 25.8% of all those dealt with at court or by formal diversionary disposal. Of these first time entrants, 26.0% (1,982) were dealt with by way of formal diversionary disposal, compared to 74.0% (5,642) dealt with by conviction.
